Vincent Akhimie's Site

As Director of Public Works for the City of Riviera Beach, Florida, Vincent Akhimie oversees several of the City’s most vital activities, including administration, operations, and maintenance of facilities, solid waste, stormwater management, and street and fleet management. Reporting to the City Manager, Vincent Akhimie manages all of Riviera Beach’s Public Works employees. The conception and implementation of the City’s first comprehensive Stormwater Master Plan represents only one of Vincent Akhimie’s many achievements during his time in Riviera Beach. The City Council adopted Vincent Akhimie’s Stormwater Master Plan in September 2009. Vincent Akhimie also completed the City’s first five-year Vehicle Replacement Plan, is a member of the union negotiation team, and spearheaded the City Manager’s Infrastructure Task Force. Demonstrating his talent for organizational development and strategic planning, Vincent Akhimie created Riviera Beach’s first Master Maintenance Schedule, a comprehensive plan encompassing streets, stormwater, facilities, and vehicle maintenance. Over the last 25 years, Vincent Akhimie has played key roles in municipal services and city planning in Stamford, Connecticut; Oak Park, Illinois; and Florida’s DeSoto County, Miami Beach, and Oviedo. Possessing a keen aptitude for policy analysis, staff development, media relations, and strategic planning, Vincent Akhimie has overseen employee teams ranging from a few dozen members to more than 150 members. Vincent Akhimie maintains professional affiliations with the American Water Works Association, the American Public Works Association, and the Florida City and County Management Association. In 2002, Vincent Akhimie was a member of the Central Florida Regional Infrastructure Committee. Vincent Akhimie attended the University of Washington for his BS and MS in Civil Engineering and was also a candidate for the PhD at the University of Michigan. A Certified Public Manager, Vincent Akhimie received his certification in the field from Florida State University.
